Myometrium

The myometrium is the thick, muscular layer of the uterus which is responsible for contractions during childbirth and menstrual cramps. It helps to expel the baby during labor and to expel the uterine lining during menstruation. Its contractions also aid in fertility and maintaining the pregnancy. In addition, the myometrium plays a crucial role in helping to maintain the shape of the uterus. It is essential for the proper functioning of the uterus and for a healthy pregnancy.
