Amnesia
Amnesia is a medical condition characterized by partial or complete memory loss. It is usually caused by physical trauma or injury, or long-term psychological stress, but can also be caused by alcohol consumption, drug use, or certain diseases. Persons suffering from amnesia may forget items that were previously familiar to them, including important facts about their own life. They may also experience difficulty forming new memories and may be unable to recall people or events from their past. Amnesia can have profound effects on a person's ability to function and behave appropriately, and can cause disruptions in everyday life. Treatment for amnesia is often dependent on the underlying cause, and can range from lifestyle changes to psychotherapy or medication.
