Psychogenic Amnesia

Psychogenic amnesia is a psychological disorder characterized by a sudden and abrupt inability to remember personal information and past events. It is caused by extreme emotional stress and can be associated with traumatic experiences. It can last days, weeks or even years, depending on the severity of the event. Psychogenic amnesia is usually treated with psychotherapy and other psychological interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and exposure therapy. Knowing the causes, symptoms and treatment options may help individuals with psychogenic amnesia to cope better with their condition, thus improving their quality of life.
