Genetic Screens
Genetic screens are a powerful technique in modern molecular genetics. They are used to identify mutations or alleles in an organism's genome that cause a specific phenotype, such as a disease or a phenotype related to a certain trait. Genetic screens are performed using a variety of methods, including random mutagenesis, targeted mutagenesis, and sequencing of complete genomes. These screens are important for understanding the genetic basis for diseases, for identifying genes that underlie specific phenotypes, or for identifying targets for drug development.
