Signal Initiation

Site Signal initiation sites (SIS) are specific sites on a protein molecule that act as a receptor for signals from other molecules. This allows the protein to control its own physiological functions as well as its interactions with other proteins. Signal initiation sites are key components of the process of signal transduction, in which cells respond to external stimuli by changing their cellular activities. In this way, SISs allow the cell to communicate with its environment and make important decisions such as when to divide, migrate, and differentiate. They are vital for cell survival and proper functioning and can be found in a wide variety of organisms including plants, animals, and microbes. As such, SISs are involved in many different cellular processes, making them essential for life.
