Sonification
Sonification is a method of conveying information by mapping data to sound. It is used in a variety of disciplines, such as medicine, engineering, and oceanography, to make complex data more accessible to the non-expert. Sonification is useful in visualizing and interpreting data, particularly data that is difficult to interpret with traditional methods such as bar graphs and pie charts. Sonification can also be used to detect patterns that might otherwise be too subtle to notice. Examples of sonification applications include speech recognition, navigation assist, and detecting nervous system activity.
