Partial Nephrectomy
Partial nephrectomy is a type of kidney surgery in which only the diseased part of the kidney is removed. This type of surgical procedure is useful for preserving as much of a healthy kidney as possible, reducing the risk of complications from removing the entire organ. It is also beneficial for treating localized tumors, involving less tissue than a full nephrectomy, thus leading to less blood loss, shorter hospital stays and speeding up recovery. Furthermore, it is the preferred treatment for the management of small renal masses, preserving functional renal parenchyma and avoiding the potential long-term consequences of a radical nephrectomy.
