Proteinuria
Proteinuria is the presence of excess proteins in the urine, which can be an indication of a major health problem. It is typically diagnosed through a test that measures the amount of protein in a urine sample. The test can help diagnose conditions such as kidney disease, preeclampsia, diabetes, and other metabolic disorders. Proteinuria can also be an early sign of infection, injury, or disease of the kidneys, heart, or liver. Treatment for proteinuria depends on the underlying cause, and may include lifestyle changes, medication, or surgery. Early detection of proteinuria is important to help prevent long-term medical complications or progression of a serious condition.
