Urinary Bladder
The urinary bladder is a vital organ in the human body that is responsible for storing urine prior to it being eliminated from the body. The walls of the bladder are made up of smooth muscle layers that help control the storage and release of urine. The walls of the urinary bladder are able to dilate in order for it to accommodate larger amounts of urine, helping maintain homeostasis by keeping the bladder from overfilling with urine. The bladder plays an important role in the regulation of body fluids and keeps the body from becoming dehydrated. The urinary bladder is also important for maintaining urinary continence, a condition in which the individual has control over the release of urine. Urinary bladder dysfunction can lead to various health complications and symptoms, including incontinence, pain, and and frequent urination. Proper diagnosis and treatment of bladder disorders can help reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.
