Apoptotic Signaling Cascade
The Apoptotic Signaling Cascade is a series of specific protein interactions which trigger programmed cell death (apoptosis). This normal physiological process is important for development, tissue homeostasis, and immunity; it is also responsible for eliminating mutated and damaged cells to avoid the development of cancer. Malfunction of the Apoptotic Signaling Cascade is associated with cancer and autoimmune diseases. Numerous drugs have been developed to target the proteins in this cascade in order to treat these diseases.
