Arthrobacter

Arthrobacter is a genus of Gram-positive, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacteria that can be found in soil, water, plants, and animals. They are also a common saprophyte, meaning they survive by decomposing organic matter. Arthrobacter are often used in biotechnology due to their ability to degrade a wide range of compounds, including pollutants, toxic compounds, and antibiotics, making them useful for bioremediation. Furthermore, Arthrobacter exhibit many interesting characteristics, such as their ability to produce carotenoids and antifungal substances and to respire anaerobically. As a result, Arthrobacter has become an increasingly important organism for research in fields such as biotechnological applications and environmental studies.
