Biosynthesis
Biosynthesis is the process of converting inorganic molecules into complex organic molecules in living organisms. It is vital for sustaining life processes – from the production of energy for metabolism, to the synthesis of proteins, lipids and other compounds. Biosynthesis is involved in virtually all aspects of the life cycle, from the growth and development of organisms to the maintenance of their environment. Biosynthesis products are essential for the functioning of cells, tissues and organs, and play an important role in the synthesis of drugs and other chemicals used in the medical and industrial fields.
