Cellulases

Cellulases are enzymes that catalyze the breakdown of cellulose, the structural component of the cell walls of plants, into glucose, a form of sugar. They are important in the biotechnology industry, helping to efficiently convert plant-based materials into valuable bioproducts. They can also be applied in various industrial processes, such as paper production and biofuel production, increasing efficiency, reducing costs and contributing to greater sustainability. Cellulases have also been used to develop new applications, such as those related to food and feed production, biofuel production, and even in the generation of bioplastics.
