Developmental Biology Morphogenesis and Cell Biology
Developmental biology is the study of how living organisms grow and develop into complex structures such as plants, animals and humans. Morphogenesis and cell biology are two related fields in this area of research. Morphogenesis studies how patterns, shapes and forms develop in the life cycle of a cell, from embryonic development to death. Cell biology examines how cells interact with one another to form organs, systems and organisms. By understanding how cells work together and how different parts of the organism are formed, scientists are able to understand disease processes, improve treatments and develop new therapies. Developmental biology morphogenesis and cell biology are key components of research in the development of stem cell research, cancer treatments and regenerative medicine.
