Disorders of Imprinting
Disorders of imprinting are genetic and chromosomal disorders caused when genetic material from a parent is not correctly passed on to the child. They can result in a range of physical or neurological abnormalities, or even mental retardation. These disorders are often hard to diagnose and can lead to lifelong difficulties for the patient. Recent advances in genetic research and technologies may provide new pathways to diagnose and treat these conditions. Early diagnosis and treatment is important, as it can minimize the severity and reduce the long-term effects of these disorders. With more research and understanding, individuals with disorders of imprinting can live a better quality of life.
