Glycosyltransferases
Glycosyltransferases are enzymes that play an important role in the synthesis of complex carbohydrates, such as glycoproteins, glycolipids, and polysaccharides. They catalyze the transfer of a carbohydrate residue from a donor to an acceptor molecule, forming a glycosidic bond between them. Glycosyltransferases are involved in a wide range of biological functions, including development, aging, metabolism, immunity, and disease. In addition, they have been used in biotechnology applications for preparing pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and natural products.
