Isomerization
Isomerization is a chemical reaction where a molecule is converted into a structurally different isomer (same molecular formula but different structural arrangement). This process can be used to alter the physical, chemical and pharmaceutical properties of molecules, and is widely used in the pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries. Isomerization can be carried out by various methods, such as catalytic hydrogenation, hydrogenolysis and condensation. The product of isomerization is generally more reactive than the starting material, making the isomerization process an important tool in the development of new chemical compounds.
