Lytic Cycle

The lytic cycle is a key process in the life cycle of a virus. It is a sequence of events that causes the release of new viral particles that can infect other cells. In this process, a virus infects a host cell, replicates its genetic materials, and breaks out of the host cell, thus releasing new viruses that are identical to the original virus. The lytic cycle is important in the spread of viruses, which makes it significant in the medical field. By understanding more about the lytic cycle, scientists have developed treatments to combat viruses and prevent their spread. For example, antiviral drugs are designed to interfere with the stages of the lytic cycle, preventing the virus from replicating and reproducing. This helps to limit the spread and prevent infections.
