Molecular Strains
Molecular Strains are genetically distinct populations of organisms that are often identified by their characteristic traits. They play an important role in understanding the genetic basis of disease, as well as in drug development, crop breeding and biotechnology. By isolating different molecular strains, researchers are able to identify the genomic components that give rise to specific phenotypes. This knowledge is critical for understanding the genetic basis of diseases, as well as for the development of new drugs, improved crop varieties and biotechnological advances.
