Oxidation-reduction Reactions
Oxidation-reduction reactions, also known as redox reactions, are reactions where electrons are transferred between molecules. They are important in many biological processes and are used in industrial and environmental applications. In biology, redox reactions provide energy for cellular respiration, allowing cells to convert food molecules into useful energy. In industry, they are used in a variety of applications including the production of chemicals, wastewater treatment, and water purification. Redox reactions also play an important role in the environment, such as in the ozone-depletion reaction and the cycle of nitrogen.
