Rapid Amplification of Cdna Ends
Rapid Amplification of cDNA Ends (RACE) is a technique that is used to identify and clone the regions at the end (or extremes) of nucleic acids (DNA or RNA), such as gene transcripts. The RACE technique is used to detect the location where gene transcripts start and stop and to identify the full-length mRNA molecule in a gene. It is also a powerful tool for amplifying unknown sequences located at the 5? and 3? ends of known gene sequences. As a result, RACE can be used in gene expression profiling, gene identification, and studies of gene regulation and evolution.
