Zinc Finger Domains
Zinc Finger Domains are small structural motifs found in proteins that use the coordination of zinc ions to bind DNA. They are key components of gene regulation, as they can recognize specific DNA sequences and control the expression of a gene by altering or suppressing its translation. Zinc Finger Domains are heavily studied and researched as they are used in medical therapies to target specific gene sequences to treat genetic diseases. In addition, they can be used to engineer new gene sequences, allowing for greater control over gene expression and genetic engineering.
