Biography:

  • I joined Aston University as an undergraduate student in October 2009, and later as a PhD student in July 2011.
  • The aim of my PhD research was to develop an assistive mobile application called SMART (Self-Monitoring, Ability-Reactive Technology), to promote independent living and enhanced wellbeing for persons with age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
  • The project requires an effective collaboration between technology development, the psychology of healthcare interventions, and clinical AMD expertise to maximise the potential to support people in changing their dietary behaviour, reducing the risk of future visual impairment.
