Brain Malformations
Brain malformations are structural defects that occur while the brain is in the process of development. They affect the normal growth of the brain, resulting in disorders or disabilities ranging from mild to severe. Common causes include genetic factors, exposure to toxins, viruses, or drugs, or abnormal patterns of blood flow inside the brain. Treatment depends on the severity of the malformation, and may involve surgical correction, medications, or therapies. Brain malformations can be debilitating, but early diagnosis and care can lead to improved quality of life.
