Ear Infection
An ear infection, or otitis media, is an inflammation of the middle ear caused by bacteria or virus. It is the most common cause of hearing impairment in young children and can result in long-term hearing problems if left untreated. Ear infections can cause pain, fever, and a feeling of fullness in the ear. In some cases, they can lead to temporary or permanent hearing damage. Treatment typically consists of antibiotics, decongestants, or steroid medications. Surgery may be required in severe cases. Early diagnosis and treatment of ear infections can help to reduce the risks of complications, such as hearing loss.
