Otolaryngology
Otolaryngology is the medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. This specialty is important for a variety of reasons, including preventing hearing loss, addressing sinus and airway problems, helping people with speech and swallowing disorders, and treating congenital or acquired facial and neck deformities. Otolaryngologists often see patients with allergies, deafness, voice and swallowing disorders, sleep apnea, sinus disease, and head and neck cancers. Because of its wide scope, otolaryngology is a diverse field, requiring training in how to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases and conditions.
