Rubella

Rubella is a contagious viral infection that mainly affects children and adolescents. It is characterized by a red or pink rash that typically spreads over the face and body, and is accompanied by swollen lymph nodes, a fever, and general discomfort. It is an important disease to prevent because it can cause severe birth defects if a pregnant woman contracts the virus. Vaccines, such as the MMR, are available and highly effective at preventing rubella. If left untreated, rubella can lead to serious complications, such as encephalitis, arthritis, and inflammation of the heart and other organs.
