Salivary Glands
Salivary glands are the organs responsible for the production of saliva, a clear and watery substance that helps to moisten and lubricate the mouth, aiding in the digestion of food. Saliva also contains enzymes which help to break down food in the mouth, as well as antimicrobial compounds which help to protect us from bacterial and viral infections. Salivary glands also help to maintain the health of oral tissues, and a healthy salivary flow rate is crucial for proper oral hygiene and overall health.
