Salivation

Salivation is the production of saliva, a watery fluid that moistens and cleanses the mouth and aids in digestion. Salivation is an important part of the digestive process, as saliva helps break down food particles for digestion. Salivation can also be a sign of emotion, with increased production of saliva often being experienced during times of happiness, excitement, or fear. Saliva also serves as a lubricant for speech, helping to make the sound of words smoother.
