Oxygen Cycle
The oxygen cycle is a vital natural process in which oxygen is continuously re-circulated through the environment. Oxygen is produced by plants, algae and other photo-synthesizing organisms. They use the energy from sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and glucose. The oxygen that is produced is then absorbed into water, soil and the atmosphere. Through the respiration process, oxygen is taken in by animals, fungi and bacteria, who use it to generate energy and produce carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is then recycled back into the atmosphere through the breathing of animals and respiration of plants. This cycle is essential for the survival of all life on earth, and helps to maintain the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
