Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic, metabolic syndrome and an important public health concern. It is characterized by elevated levels of glucose in the blood and is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. People with diabetes mellitus are at greater risk of developing coronary heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and other health complications. Treatment typically involves lifestyle changes, such as managing diet, physical activity and weight; and, in some cases, medications. Management of diabetes mellitus is an important aspect of preventive healthcare and is essential for achieving good long-term outcomes and quality of life.
