Healthy Eating Habits

Healthy eating habits involve making wise choices about which foods and drinks to consume, how much, and how often. Eating habits are important for maintaining a healthy body weight, providing the body with essential nutrients, and for reducing the risk of chronic health conditions such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Eating a balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, healthy fats, and low-fat dairy products while limiting added sugars, trans fats, and refined grains is the best way to establish and maintain healthy eating habits.
