Hydrology

Hydrology is the scientific study of the movement, distribution, and management of water on Earth and other planets. This includes the hydrological cycle of precipitation, evaporation, and runoff, as well as the interactions of water with the land, atmosphere, and plants. Hydrology is key to understanding water resources, which are essential for all aspects of life, including agricultural production, public health, and environmental sustainability. In addition, hydrology is important for understanding global climate change, flooding and droughts, groundwater management, floodplain management, and agricultural water management. Hydrology is also used to help manage water resources, assess the impacts of land use and climate change on water, monitor water quality, and address other water-related problems.
