Cryopreservation
Cryopreservation is a method of preserving biological material such as cells, organs, or tissue at extremely low temperatures and then storing them indefinitely. It is a process by which living organisms or their components can be preserved through a cooling process down to temperatures at which biological activity can be slowed or stopped. This method can potentially be used to accumulate molecular and cellular information for future generations, save endangered species, improve organ transplantation, and even preserve organs for future transplantation. Cryopreservation has a wide range of uses in the medical, pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors and is a key technology for the storage, maintenance and distribution of organisms, cells, and tissues.
