Plant Epigenetics
Plant epigenetics is the study of how changes in gene expression occur without a change in the DNA sequence. These changes, known as epigenetic modifications, can be caused by environmental or nutritional factors, or even the age or the developmental stage of the plant. They are essential for plant growth and development and help plants to respond to environmental cues. Furthermore, epigenetic modifications can be passed through generations of plants and can even be used to breed more resilient crops. By understanding how epigenetics works in plants, scientists can gain a better understanding of how to enhance yield, quality and disease resistance.
