Stress Responses
Stress responses refer to the physiological, cognitive, and emotional processes that people experience in response to perceived threats or challenges. When faced with a stressful situation, the body has a range of automatic, physiological responses, including increased heart rate, increased respiration rate, and decreased digestive activity. These physiological responses also produce psychological effects such as increased alertness, increased vigilance, and increased emotional arousal. Stress responses enable people to respond quickly and effectively to dangerous situations and can be beneficial in terms of survival.
