Xanthomonas

Xanthomonas is a genus of pathogenic bacteria that cause diseases in a wide range of plants. Xanthomonas is an important group of economically-important plant pathogens, as they cause diseases that can significantly impact crop yield and quality. Xanthomonas can cause lesions on leaves, stems, and fruit, and can also cause rot in several cultivated crops, such as citrus, banana, grape, and tomato. By applying chemical treatments and control measures, such as crop rotation and seed selection, farmers and agricultural scientists are able to manage and reduce the impact of Xanthomonas on crop yield and quality.
