Gene Function
Gene function is an important concept in biology. It refers to the role of genes within a living organism, which are responsible for controlling the development, growth and functioning of cells, tissues and organs. Genes are responsible for producing proteins that govern the structure and function of the biological processes of the organism. A better understanding of gene function is essential to better understand the basis of diseases, and to develop therapies that are tailored to the individual patient. Additionally, understanding gene function allows us to engineer crops with desired traits, such as disease resistance, improved nutrition and drought tolerance.
