Bronchiectasis is a lung condition in which the airways become damaged, causing them to widen and become filled with mucus. This results in frequent and recurrent episodes of coughing, chest infections, breathlessness and fatigue. Bronchiectasis can be caused by a variety of things such as smoking, allergies, or other infections. It can also be caused by cystic fibrosis and primary ciliary dyskinesia. Treatment of bronchiectasis can involve antibiotics, chest physiotherapy, and breathing exercises.
