Respiration

Respiration is the process by which living organisms convert oxygen and food molecules into energy. This process is essential for all mammals and is necessary to sustain life. During respiration, oxygen is taken in through the lungs, absorbed into the bloodstream, and then transferred to all cells of the body. Respiration is important for the functioning of organs and tissues, and helps to regulate body temperature. Respiration also plays an important role in metabolism, which is the process that releases energy from food. By providing energy, respiration allows all organisms to carry out essential biological functions such as movement, growth, and repair of damaged cells.
