Swine
Influenza. Swine Influenza, also known as Hog Flu, is an infection caused by a type of Influenza-A virus. It typically affects pigs, but can also spread to humans. This virus can cause mild to severe respiratory illness in humans and can be fatal. Vaccines and preventive measures are available to protect pigs, and humans at risk of exposure, from the virus. Swine Influenza is important to study and control as it has the potential to cause a global pandemic, which could be fatal to both humans and other animal species. In addition, it helps to inform the development of new vaccines and treatments to help protect humans and other species from future outbreaks.
