Wegener Granulomatosis
Wegener Granulomatosis is a rare, potentially life-threatening disease. It is an autoimmune disorder, characterized by inflammation affecting the blood vessels, leading to necrosis of tissue and organ damage. Symptoms include persistent coughing, fever, fatigue, and joint pain, as well as inflammation in the lungs, sinuses and kidneys. This condition is often accompanied by other autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and scleroderma. Treatment for Wegener Granulomatosis typically involves medication, such as cyclophosphamide, corticosteroids, and azathioprine, and may also require surgical interventions. With effective treatment, individuals have an improved prognosis and can return to their regular activities.
