Schizophrenia Symptoms
Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, behaves, and perceives reality. It is characterized by changes in thinking, perception, behavior, emotion, and social functioning. Common symptoms include delusions (false beliefs), hallucinations, disorganized speech and behavior, and apathy. Schizophrenia is a lifelong and debilitating disease, with a prevalence of approximately 1% of the population, and can significantly impair daily functioning and quality of life. Early diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia can help reduce the severity of symptoms and improve long-term outcomes. The most effective treatment typically includes a combination of medications and psychotherapy, with ongoing support and monitoring.
