Cardiomyocytes
Cardiomyocytes are a type of muscle cell found in the heart and are essential for a healthy functioning heart. They are responsible for contracting and relaxing the heart, allowing it to pump oxygenated and deoxygenated blood throughout the body. Cardiomyocytes are also able to regenerate, making them an important component in the treatment of heart disease. Their ability to contract and relax rapidly, as well as their capacity for self-renewal, has led to them being studied by scientists for their potential in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, which has great potential in treating a variety of heart conditions and diseases.
