Pubis
The pubis is an anterior section of the os coxae (hip bone) in humans and other primates. It is the most anterior of the three parts of the hip bone and forms the lower front portion of the pelvis. Along with the ischium and ilium, it forms the three parts of the coxal bone which connects the axial skeleton (spine and rib cage) to the lower extremities. The pubis plays an important role in stabilizing the pelvis and provides a point of attachment for numerous muscles and ligaments, particularly those surrounding the hip joint. Its functions in the body include providing support during locomotion and standing, transferring force during body movements, and absorbing shock to protect the hip joint.
