Skeletal Joints
Skeletal joints are the points at which two or more bones meet, allowing the bones to move in relation to each other. Joints are the structural and functional connection between bones, and are essential for enabling movement and range of motion. Joints are classified based on the type of motion they allow, along with the amount of movement that is possible. Examples of joint types include ball-and-socket, hinge, pivot and saddle joints. Injuries to joints can limit range of motion and cause pain and inflammation. Careful treatment of joints is important to maintain joint health and mobility.
