Skull
The skull is the skeletal structure of the head and contains the brain, eyes, ears, nose and mouth. It protects the brain and other structures of the head from injury. It is composed of two parts: the cranium and the facial bones. The cranium encloses and protects the brain and provides attachment points for the muscles of the face, neck and head. The facial bones make up the front portion of the skull and give structure to the face. They form the upper and lower jaws, the nasal cavity and the orbits of the eyes. Without a skull, the brain and other structures of the head would be exposed to harm.

A brain tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in the brain or central spine that can disrupt proper brain function. Doctors refer to a tumor based on where the tumor cells originated, and whether they are cancerous or not. Brain and spinal cord tumors are different for everyone. They form in different areas and develop from different cell types.
