Tendons
Tendons are tough, fibrous, and flexible cords of tissue that connect muscle to bone, helping to transmit force from the muscle to the bone and enabling us to move. Tendons are essential for locomotion and providing stability to our joints. They are resistant to stretching, allowing us to have precise control over our movements. Tendons also serve to protect and buffer the joint, reducing stress on its surfaces. Tendons are highly specialized structures that require regular maintenance and exercise to prevent injury and help them to heal quickly. Without tendons our bodies would not be able to move effectively, so they play a critical role in everyday life.
