Hepatology

Hepatology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. It also involves the study of liver metabolism, nutrition, and alcohol use. Hepatology is an important field due to the prevalence of liver diseases and their significant morbidity and mortality. Common liver diseases include hepatitis A, B, and C, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, and Wilson's disease. Hepatologists provide treatment and management of these diseases and their complications, as well as providing preventive services to those at risk.
