Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic Syndrome is a cluster of medical conditions that affect the body's metabolism, causing an increased risk of developing chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. It is characterized by elevated blood pressure, abdominal obesity, abnormal blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and elevated blood sugar levels. Metabolic Syndrome has become increasingly prevalent, especially in industrialized countries, and is estimated to affect one in four adults in the world. Treatment of Metabolic Syndrome may include lifestyle modifications, such as increasing physical activity, improving diet, and taking medications as needed. By effectively managing Metabolic Syndrome, individuals can reduce their risk of developing chronic diseases, improve their quality of life, and lead healthier lives.
